Ultrafab Inc., a Farmington, N.Y.-based manufacturer of weather seals, has taken on a $2 million expansion project that will double its footprint and create 34 jobs in Greer, S.C.
The company is leasing 20,000 square feet to accommodate its growth and the site is expected to be operational by the end of the year. The hiring process has also begun.
“Since 2009, Ultrafab has been steadily growing our business in South Carolina and we are excited to double our footprint in the state to better serve our window and door customers' growth in the southeastern United States,” Ultrafab CFO Tom Hare said in a news release.
Ultrafab is a privately held company that manufactures window and door weather-stripping, such as urethane foam seals for entry doors; brush-like, door-bottom sweeps of polypropylene fibers to minimize air flow; and thermoplastic elastomer bulb seals for windows.
In addition to New York and South Carolina, the company has a manufacturing facility in McPherson, Kan. All three sites received ISO certification in April. At that time, company officials said Ultrafab is expanding its market share in construction and OEM business equipment and would look at other markets.
