After Day 2 of the eight-day K 2016 trade show, attendance is significantly above the last trade fair in 2013.
Some 45,000 visitors came to Messe Dusseldorf on Oct. 20, about 3,000 more than on the second day of the last K show, in 2013.
The numbers were similar the first day: 26,000 visitors came Oct. 19, up from 23,000 on the first day of the 2013 show.
In 2013, a total of 219,000 visitors ended up coming to the K show, which was down 1.5 percent from the 222,486 who came to the previous K, in 2010.
As usual, the trade show officials' prediction for 2013 was “about 200,000,” a number that they appear very likely to surpass again this year.
K is the world's largest plastics trade show. The biggest rival is Chinaplas, which is held every year, and only for four days. Attendance at Chinaplas 2016 was 128,264, a number that may have been suppressed by poor weather that made travel to Shanghai difficult. In 2015, 130,370 visitors came to Chinaplas in Guangzhou, China.
