A worker has died after falling through a skylight at the 2800 Kew Drive Windsor, Ontario, operation of plastic auto parts molder Ventra Plastics.
The worker tripped and fell through the skylight at about 2 p.m. and died later at hospital. The worker was with Windsor-based Vollmer Inc., which was contracted to do electrical work at Ventra.
Ventra is a subsidiary of Flex-N-Gate Corp. of Urbana, Ill.
An Ontario Ministry of Labour spokeswoman said the worker was installing new electrical service on Ventra's roof when he tripped and fell to the floor below. A ministry inspector issued two requirement orders to Vollmer, one for documentation and the other to not disturb the scene of the incident.
The Windsor chapter of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union sent a message of condolence from its Twitter account for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
The worker's name and age have been withheld pending investigation.
