Japan-based automotive supplier M&C Tech Indiana Corp. will invest $4.6 million to establish plastic manufacturing operations in southwestern Indiana.
The 40,000-square-foot plant in Washington, Ind., will initially employ 25, with plans to expand to 70 by 2021, a news release indicates. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2017.
M&C Tech is a joint venture owned by Moriroku Chemicals Co. Ltd. and Chubu Chemicals, according to a news release from the Indiana Economic Development Corp. The release did not specify what types of parts would be manufactured at the plant. The Moriroku Chemicals website includes product photos of interior trim parts and door handles, with customers including Honda.
The company was offered up to $275,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $40,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans.
Japanese OEMs Subaru, Toyota and Honda all have manufacturing operations in Indiana.
