Germany-based Messe Düsseldorf, home to the K Show plastics trade fair, has announced plans for the complete reconstruction of the exhibition centre's south entrance and also therefore its hall 1 building.
The southern section will see a 140 million euro investment. The work on the South Entrance will start in May 2017, after Interpack, and should be completed in summer 2019 before K 2019.
Werner Dornscheidt, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf said: “We can now implement our master plan for the complete modernization and renewal of the premises at our home base – and indeed, as always, without subsidies.”
The design for the new South Entrance has been created by the Düsseldorf-based architectural company Slapa Oberholz Pszczulny Architekten GmbH & Co. KG.
Once completed, the southern entrance will be 93 meters in length and contain over 2,000 square meters of space. Meanwhile the new Hall 1 will be 158 meters in length, 77 meters in width and comprising over 12,000 square meters, roughly the current size of the exhibition center's Halls 8a and 8b.
