O. Berk Co. LLC is expanding its personal care packaging capabilities with the acquisition of the assets of VPI Packaging of Lyndhurst, N.J.
O. Berk is a distributor of plastic, glass and metal containers, closures, as well as pumps and sprayers. It offers stock items as well as the ability to create custom products.
“They design a lot of luxury packaging — something we have tried to expand on, “said Edward Cook, marketing coordinator at O.Berk.
He said O. Berk and VPI had worked together before on projects, and they have also done projects for the same clients. Adding VPI's expertise enhances O. Berk, especially in personal care packaging.
VPI will transition its customers and supplier relationships to O. Berk and O. Berk will integrate and offer VPI's personal care products through its existing sales channels.
“With this acquisition we will offer additional quality products in the personal care market and further expand our deep base of suppliers. We eagerly look forward to having the talented team at VPI join us at O.Berk to help deliver this value to our clients,” said Marc Gaelen, president and CEO of O. Berk, in a news release.
The deal was completed on Dec. 2.
O. Berk was founded in Newark, N.J., in 1910 by Osias Berk, who recycled glass bottles. It is currently headquartered in Union, N.J., and also has operations in West Haven, Conn., and Baltimore, Md.
