Germany-based AST Kunststoffverarbeitung GmbH, which specializes in blow molded rigid industrial packaging, has acquired fellow German company Amo-Plast.
Amo-Plast based in Eppingen, Germany produces plastic jerry cans for the chemical and food and beverage markets.
A financial figure for the acquisition by AST was not disclosed.
Dirk Strohmann, an owner of AST, based in Entebrück, said: “With this acquisition, and as one of the European market leaders, we continue to implement our strategy of quality growth and significantly strengthens our position in the fast-growing emerging markets.”
Armin Morlok, Managing Director of Amo-Plast said: “We are proud of the business we have built and delighted to be a part of a company that will continue to take us forward. Now that we are part of the European AST family, we will be able to serve our customers with a variety of products and services that we had always envisioned."
With the acquisition, AST says it increases its commitment to invest in jerry can capabilities. The company currently employs 160 and sees annual sales of over 100 million euros ($105.4 million).
