Canadian door manufacturer Novatech Group is investing $3 million to establish its first U.S. operation at a 100,000-square-foot leased space in Martinsville, Va., where it expects to hire 50 new employees.
The Ste.-Julie, Quebec-based company will produce and distribute a variety of patio doors at the facility. Novatech makes patio doors from PVC, wood and aluminum.
Founded in 1982, Novatech operates 12 plants in Canada and Europe and distributes products internationally, including steel and PVC doors, retractable screens and insulated glass with or without blinds.
“Novatech's new plant in Virginia is a first step in our expansion into the United States. In doing so, we are realizing a dream,” CEO and President Harold Savard said in a news release. “This investment will allow us to better serve our existing U.S. customers and grow our capacities closer to key markets.”
Virginia competed against six other states for the project, which received a total of $230,000 in grants and is eligible for other state benefits from the Virginia Enterprise Zone Program, as well as funding for employee training.
