You might remember Murtaza Ahmadi. He was the adorable boy in Afghanistan who wore a makeshift Lionel Messi soccer jersey made out of a plastic bag.
The story from earlier this year had a great ending, but not a perfect one. Messi was unable to meet the boy, but Ahmadi received a signed replica jersey from his hero, along with a new soccer ball.
Fast forward to Dec. 13 when Messi's club team Barcelona FC was playing Al Ahli in a match in Qatar, host of the 2022 World Cup. Ahmadi, 6, was flown from Afghanistan to meet his idol, and participate in the pre-game rituals.
Ahmadi even got in the team photo. He was having so much fun, the referee eventually had to carry him off the field before the game started. Check out the great video from Barcelona FC showing the highlights of the day.
