Davis-Standard LLC presented its wide range of technology, dubbed Global Advantage, at K 2016.
Some highlights:
A 3.5-inch extruder with features mounted with a QSE adapter (Quick Screw Exchange) for fast changes without disturbing the downstream melt path.
A high-speed film and foil unwind, designed for thin substrates and sensitive webs such as aluminum foil. The two-position turret unwind can run an 800-meters-per minute splice speed.
The dsX technology in the line of converting equipment for extrusion coating, cast film and blown film.
The machinery maker in Pawcatuck, Conn., also promoted its expertise in feedscrews and dies, including showing a seven-layer die stand from the Davis-Standard's Gloucester Engineering line of blown film equipment. The company also promoted its new die rebuilding services offered its U.S. operation.
One major focus: High-speed extrusion. “We've supplied high-speed technology for awhile, but there is still a lot of opportunity for those who seek new ways to boost throughput and performance,” said Steve DeAngelis, Davis-Standard's vice president of sheet and foam. “The potential for improved processing is especially evident for high-speed sheet, fiber and extrusion coating processes. Our design has demonstrated excellent thermal stability and melt quality at throughout rates up to 3,300 pounds per hour. It has shown increased performance density for polypropylene and polystyrene extrusion.”
