At K 2016 Brampton Engineering Inc. unveiled its Vector Single Inlet Air Ring, the family of FlexWIN winders and the remove process reporting system, ITALYCS, and gave K visitors a close-up view of the SCD 4.0 stacked coextrusion die running at a customer's plant — via virtual reality.
According to Brampton, the new Vector air ring gives better cooling of blown film with, with lower pressure losses, and repeatable, recipe-driven setups. The new design streamlines the flow of chilled air and delivers uniform cooling around the bubble.
Vector's lip design continues the optimized, streamlined flow but also allows operators to achieve “bubble lock” independent of flow rate — which Brampton said is a breakthrough that offers more cooling capacity to achieve higher output, a wider operating window and the ability to save the setup and precisely recall it from memory for repeatable startups and better-quality film.
The ITALYCS hub allows central and remote process reporting from multiple ITALYCS integrated process control systems, and other factory management systems. The OEE dashboard shows an overview of all lines at a glance, then you can drill down into operational metrics instantly.
The family of FlexWIN winders for blown and case film give contact, gap or center-assist winding. A fully automated Zip knife uses static pinning to achieve tapeless transfer and zero foldover, giving rolls that are 100 percent usable.
