Pixargus GmbH, the maker of camera inspection systems, introduced ProfilControl 7 at K 2016, which the company claims is the first to combine surface inspection and 360-degree contour measurement within a single sensor unit. The unit is designed to inspect extruded products such as profiles, seals, hoses, tubing and cables.
It can be quickly set up and ready for use as a flexible inline measurement system.
ProfileControl 7 is the next-generation of Pixargus' ProfileControl Dualhead series.
The modular system can use up to eight Hybrid Power Multi Camera Sensors to capture data in extrusion lines. The new PC7 no longer requires a separate shape measuring system, so it saves money, Pixargus said.
Also, the PC7 uses both LED and laser technology within the camera's field of vision — giving excellent calibration performance, the company said. And the Light-Edge elements developed by Pixargus allows the camera sensors to immediately capture and process defects which were not visible, or difficult to detect, in the past — such as specks, pores, scratches, cracks or grooves. In contrast to the Dualhead systems, the PC7 series integrates the light ring into the sensor head.
Also at K 2016, the company debuted a new software tool, called DataMaster 4.0, which makes it possible to relate production lots to individual material suppliers, and identify any systematic imperfection of the material.
Pixargus is based in Würselen, Germany.
