Plastics News this week is showing a recent North American price increase for nylon 6/6 resins and also is adjusting regional prices downward for several recycled resins.
These changes are reflected in this week's resin pricing chart. Nylon 6/6 prices in the region increased by an average of 3 cents per pound in late 2016, as a result of stronger demand and higher feedstock costs. Some buyers saw the increase as early as September. Others saw it take effect during the fourth quarter.
Prices for several recycled resins fell during 2016. As a result, PN is showing the following downward changes:
• Recycled polypropylene pellets down 5 cents per pound and recycled PP flake down 9 cents per pound
• Recycled green PET bottle resin pellets down 5 cents per pound
• Recycled industrial polystyrene pellets down 13 cents per pound and recycled industrial PS flake down 29 cents per pound
• Recycled ABS pellets down 32 cents per pound and recycled ABS flake down 27 cents per pound
