Sometimes the intersection between the plastics world and pop culture is as easy to spot as all those celebrities who like to lecture everyone about single-use bottles or plastic bags.
Other times it's a little more unexpected.
Take the photo sent via Twitter by Chris Miller, who is a director on one of the upcoming films in the “Star Wars” universe, specifically a film featuring on a younger version of the Han Solo character, back before he connected with Luke and Leia and Obi Wan (and a couple of droids) in the original movie back in 1977.
The working title leaked out in that photo? “Red Cup.” As in a red Solo cup, the familiar single-use drinkware now made by Dart Container Corp. The final title on the movie due out in 2018 likely will different.
Sure it's a long way to go for a small laugh. But couldn't we all use a little distraction about now?
And who knows? Maybe by the time of the final sequel, we'll find out that all that talk about using the force was about finding the injection molding press with the right clamping pressure.
But probably not.
