Celanese buys nylon compounding unit from Nilit Ltd.

Dallas-based Celanese Corp. has agreed to buy the nylon compounding business of Nilit Ltd. for an undisclosed price. The acquisition includes customer agreements and manufacturing, technology and commercial facilities. Nilit's compounding facilities are in Milan, Italy; Wehr/Baden, Germany, and Suzhou, China.

New injection molding company opens in California

A new injection molding company, Clebae Infinique Tooling & Molding LLC, opened in January in Sacramento, Calif., seeking to bring back work that it has been done in China and also to develop a new clientele.

Expect steady growth for US construction

I have no doubts that tax reform or fiscal stimulus in the form of expanded infrastructure spending will have a strong upwards effect on the growth rate in both construction spending and the overall economy, but I am just not sure Congress can get anything done in time for it to take effect in 2017.

PP, solid PS, nylon 6, 6/6 prices rising

Polypropylene prices rose 10 cents in January, and prices for solid polystyrene also climbed an average of 5 cents per pound in January, and prices for nylon 6 and 6/6 resins are under upward pricing pressure as well.
