Nexeo Solutions has acquired part of the DSM NV business of German resin distributor K.D. Feddersen Norden AB.
The deal includes resin inventory and accounts of customers who had been buying materials made by DSM — a Dutch materials supplier — from Feddersen in parts of northern Europe.
This agreement has DSM's support and reflects Nexeo Solutions' continued focus and commitment to enhance its strategic position in the Nordic region, Nexeo officials in The Woodlands, Texas, said in a Feb. 28 news release.
Nexeo recently has expanded its local team in the region to better position the company for growth in this area, they added. “We see a lot of development opportunities in the Nordics with DSM's growing product line card,” Plastics Senior Vice President Shawn Williams said in the release.
DSM Engineering Plastics commercial director Joost d'Hooghe added that the Nexeo deal “offers our joined customers increased reach, proximity and best in class service.” Transition of the customers from Feddersen to Nexeo is expected to be completed on or before April 3.
The region included in the deal consists of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
Nexeo distributes resins, compounds and concentrates for more than 20 suppliers, including ExxonMobil Chemical and LyondellBasell Industries. About 48 percent of Nexeo's $3.9 billion in sales for the year ended Sept. 30, 2015, came from plastics distribution, with the rest coming from chemical sales.
