One of North America's largest independent compounders had linked up with one of the region's largest resin distributors.
M. Holland Co. of Northbrook, Ill., will serve as the sole U.S. distributor for nylon-based materials made by Pawtucket, R.I.-based Teknor Apex Co. The deal is expected to be in place by early fall, officials with both companies said in a March 13 news release.
Teknor's nylon-based portfolio includes reinforced and specially modified compounds of nylon 6, 6/6, 6/10, and 6/12 sold under the Chemlon brand name.
M. Holland already has distributed the Chemlon line for more than 20 years, selling to customers in transportation, consumer products, industrial and other markets. It now will be Teknor's preferred national partner because of “shared beliefs in delivering exceptional customer service, caring for their employees and developing long-term relationships based on high ethical standards and quality products,” officials said.
“The expansion of [Teknor's] relationship with M. Holland was a natural evolution because of our shared values and operation as long-standing family-run businesses,” said Michael Roberts, Teknor global ETP vice president in the release.
M. Holland President and CEO Ed Holland added that his firm “is looking forward to partnering closely with Teknor Apex to deliver ETP solutions that will be of great value to our customers.”
Roberts and Ed Holland each are proof of the family presence at their companies. Roberts is the great-grandson of Teknor founder Alfred Fain. Ed Holland is the son of M. Holland founder Marvin Holland.
Teknor is one of North America's 30 largest compounders and concentrate makers. The firm employs more than 2,000 worldwide and has annual sales of more than $600 million. M. Holland is one of North America's largest resin distributors, supplying more than 1.4 billion pounds of resin annually to more than 4,000 customers.
