Pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging supplier Gerresheimer AG is tapping BASF SE for its next CEO.
who is taking over the position in September later this year.
Christian Fischer, 53, will join the management board of Gerresheimer AG as an ordinary member Aug. 1 before taking over as CEO on Sept. 1, the company said in a March 3 announcement.
Fischer is currently president, performance chemicals, at BASF SE in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
Uwe Röhrhoff, current Gerresheimer CEO, announced in November that he would leave the company in 2017.
“[Fischer] brings with him 24 years of industry experience and has demonstrated his entrepreneurial drive in various roles at BASF, both in Germany and abroad,” said Axel Herberg, chairman of the supervisory board of Gerresheimer AG.
According to Herberg, the new CEO will ensure “smooth and seamless transition” for the recent acquisitions, divestments, and operational initiatives within Gerresheimer.
“Gerresheimer is a highly successful, international company and a trusted partner to the pharma and healthcare industry. I am looking forward to my new role in this exciting company and market,” added Fischer.
Röhrhoff will leave the company on 31 August.
