Indiana is a long way from Germany. But the Lindal Group, based in Hamburg, likes what it sees in the U.S. market and is spending millions of dollars to build new operations in Columbus, Ind., through a project expected to be finished this year.
"Our new Columbus facility will be the right facility, the right place, at the right time," said Philip Brand, global marketing director for Lindal, in a statement. "We anticipate the need for integrated and centrally-located resources for our wide range of U.S. customers as demand continues to grow here."
Lindal is constructing a 100,000-square-foot facility that will include production, office, laboratory and warehouse space.
Lindal makes valves, actuators, spray caps and over caps for aerosol products. Markets include cosmetics, household products, pharmaceuticals, food and technical applications.
The new location is expandable and is part of what the company calls an "overall $20 million investment in the U.S. market, which also includes new equipment to increase capacity."
The new plant site is on 15 acres and will consolidate three existing Lindal sites in Columbus, according to a local news report. Peterson Co. LLC of Indianapolis is building the project.
