A. Schulman Inc. will brighten up its European business by adding color concentrate capacity in Hungary, Italy and Poland.
Each site will receive a new extrusion line, officials with Fairlawn, Ohio-based Schulman said in a March 21 news release. The expansions are being made because of increased market demand, they added.
"A. Schulman is committed to continue investments in our color facilities," Schulman executive Andrzej Rozalski said in the release. Rozalski serves as vice president of Custom Concentrates and Services for the firm in in the Europe/Middle East/Africa region.
"We combine our technical expertise in color masterbatches with increased capacity, which enables us to service our customers even faster and better," he added.
"Colored masterbatches see increased demand across the European region and we want to be part of it," Heinrich Lingnau, EMEA senior vice president and general manager, said in the release. "The expansion of our production lines in Poland, Italy and Hungary are the third significant investment that we are making in our masterbatch manufacturing sites in the last months."
Schulman previously announced major investments new masterbatch plants in China and Turkey. The firm posted sales of $2.5 billion in its 2016 fiscal year, which ended Aug. 31. Schulman ranks as a leading compounder and concentrates maker in both North America and Europe, and as one of Europe's leading resin distributors as well.
