A billionaire with a keen interest in plastics packaging is running for governor of Illinois.
J.B. Pritzker, along with his brother Tony, have invested heavily in the plastics business in recent years through their Pritzker Group Private Capital firm.
Pritzker Group owns Technimark LLC, a maker of rigid plastic packaging and components, as well as ProAmpac, a flexible packaging company.
J.B. Pritzker made it clear his plans to run for governor as a Democrat on April 6, joining what has been described as an already-crowded field seeking to win the opportunity to unseat incumbent Republican Bruce Rauner.
Pritzker, on his Twitter feed, featured a picture with his family along with a sign that reads “J.B. for Governor.”
Pritzker is an heir to the Hyatt hotel fortune.
