Carpinteria, Calif. — Freudenberg Medical has expanded its capabilities throughout its manufacturing network.
The firm recently implemented a new global SAP system, which consisted of a three-year multi-million dollar investment. The project allows Freudenberg Medical to offer customers a common platform for sales and distribution, materials and purchasing, finance, and quality management.
SAP was implemented at the firm's operations across the U.S., Central America, Europe and Asia. The project also delivered a standardized global quality system, which includes a universal language, creation and maintenance of critical material and manufacturing data, batch records and traceability, and system generated certificates of conformance.
"In a market environment characterized by increased digitalization, rising regulatory standards, and a rapidly evolving global interdependency an integrated high-performance IT infrastructure is a key success factor," Freudenberg Medical CEO Max Kley said in a statement. "The harmonized business processes make it easier for our customers to interact with us and to rely on Freudenberg Medical as a stable business partner with a state-of-the-art quality system. This investment puts Freudenberg Medical at the forefront of our industry and provides us with a critical competitive advantage."
In addition, Freudenberg Medical's site at Baldwin Park, Calif., received an investment to expand its tooling capabilities. The firm added six specialized tooling machines with a $500,000 investment, including a CNC mill, CNC lathe and a sinker EDM machine. The firm said the new machines enable the firm to decrease repair lead times.
The Baldwin Park site manufactures and assembles medical components as well as finished devices, focusing primarily on thermoplastics.
