Silgan Holdings Inc., which has major lines of business in both plastic containers and plastic closures, is splitting its stock.
The 2-for-1 split is scheduled for May 26 for shareholders of record at the close of business on May 15, the Stamford, Conn.-based company said.
The split is in the form of a stock dividend, Silgan said.
Silgan, which is well known for making metal cans, has annual sales of about $3.6 billion. The company operates 100 manufacturing sites in North America, South America, Europe and Asia.
Silgan ranked No. 24 in the 2016 Plastics News ranking of North American injection molders, with estimated molding sales of $290 million, and No. 9 in PN's blow molders ranking with related sales of $593.7 million.
