Compounding firm Technical Polymers LLC now is operating as Domo Engineering Plastics US LLC.
The name change was official April 25. Domo Chemical GmbH of Leuna, Germany, had acquired Buford, Ga.-based Technical in June 2015. Domo Chemical has annual sales of more than $1 billion in nylon and intermediates, global compounding of engineering plastics, nylon film and fertilizer production and trading.
Technical's former owners — Gary Foote and Dennis Eich — will remain in senior management roles. Marc Potemans, CEO of the newly named unit, said in a news release that since the acquisition, Domo "has been working diligently on expanding and improving our service to our loyal and growing customer base" by doubling capacity, adding customer service, technical service and technical sales personnel and by creating a global accounts team comprised of industry veterans.
"Listening to our customers, we are making every effort to maintain the level of quality and service our business partners have come to expect from a smaller, stand-alone supplier, and combine this customer driven attitude with the financial and engineering backing and global reach of a multinational corporation," Foote added.
Domo is fully integrated in the nylon 6 resin chain. Acquiring Technical allowed the firm to grow its U.S. business. Technical generates 60 to 70 percent of its sales from U.S. automakers. Other markets for its products include oil and gas, agriculture, electrical-electronics and sporting goods.
Foote and other market veterans founded Technical in 1999. The business now employs about 50 at a 60,000 square foot location.
