Illinois mold maker Big 3 Precision is partnering with design firm Fuseneo Inc. to blend design and manufacturability in the development of injection blow and injection stretch blow molded products.
The firms announced a strategic partnership in May. Under the agreement, Fuseneo will handle the creative work on a product while Big 3 engineers ensure the design is manufacturable and perform verification test runs before building the production tooling.
"Especially on the packaging side of our business there are a lot of design concepts that while they look great on paper, they are basically non-manufacturable," said Todd Riley, Big 3's chief operating officer, in a statement. "They stay just a design and never come off the table to become a reality. With this partnership, Fuseneo can blend a creative design with manufacturability to fit the molding process.
"When the customer falls in love with an innovative, creative package it's something that is manufacturable, saving a tremendous amount of time and costs."
Big 3 is headquartered in Centralia, Ill. Fuseneo is located outside Chicago.
