Washington — Scott DeFife has joined the Plastics Industry Association as vice president of government affairs. He leads efforts at the Washington-based trade group for federal, state and regulatory affairs, he oversee its advocacy efforts, and he is the staff liaison to the Public Policy Committee.
DeFife most recently led policy and government affairs for the National Restaurant Association. Prior to that, he was senior managing director at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.
Executive Vice President Patty Long said: "His impressive experience in the association industry and on the Hill makes him uniquely positioned to lead our government affairs team and help the plastics industry in achieving our goals of producing innovative and safe products, sustainably managing materials and ensuring a safe environment for our workforce."
Prior to his trade association work, DeFife served on the staffs of former House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), former Congressman Bart Gordon (D-Tenn.), Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy (D-Mo.), and former Congressman Mike Andrews (D-Texas).
