Chicago — Packaging industry veteran Glenn Fish has been named the 2017 Plastics News CFO of the Year.
Fish is chief financial officer and executive vice president of Tekni-Plex Inc., a maker of packaging materials, medical compounds and tubing based in Wayne, Pa. Fish joined Tekni-Plex in 2014 after stints with packaging firms Portola Packaging and Alcan.
In Fish's time with Tekni-Plex, the firm has achieved consistent year-on-year quarterly earnings growth and has completed four strategic acquisitions. He was nominated for the award by Tekni-Plex CEO Paul Young.
Fish received the award June 7 at the 2017 Plastics News Financial Summit in Chicago. Other finalists for the award were Michelle Bourdage of Romeo RIM Inc., John Shay of Tom Smith Industries Inc. and Adam Wachter of Engineered Profiles LLC. The award was sponsored by BMO Harris Bank.
During a panel discussion with finalists before the award was presented, Fish said that he expects Tekni-Plex to post better financial results in 2017 than it did in 2016.
"We've seen more integration of our acquisitions and a number of organic capital expenditure projects," Fish said. "Cost reductions are bearing fruit, and we're seeing share gains as well."
