How time flies when you're having fun — and honoring top plastics companies with the Plastics News Processor of the Year Award.
We are now kicking off the 2017 award by officially seeking nominations. Getting started is easy. Just submit an entry form, which includes a short explanation of why you think the company deserves the award. The nomination form is online at www.plasticsnews.com/poy. A quick suggestion: When you get on the award page, scroll down to the hot link for frequently asked questions, and click on it. That will give you an idea of what we want in a written submission report, which comes after we receive the nomination.
Anyone can nominate a processor — that includes self-nominations, but also suppliers, customers and economic development officials.
The Processor of the Year Award honors a North American plastics processor for its performance, corporate responsibility and overall excellence. The award is a good way to pick up some publicity, and third-party confirmation. Judges are Plastics News editorial staffers.
Each candidate must be a plastics processor — a company that manufactures plastic parts. A nominee can be a company or an operating division, public or private, that has been engaged in plastics processing for at least five years. Criteria include financial performance, quality, customer relations, employee relations, environmental performance, industry/public service and technological innovation.
In addition to the Processor of the Year Award, Plastics News also hands out Excellence Awards to worthy contestants, for specific categories. Former Processor of the Year winners are eligible to apply for our Sustained Excellence Award.
Deadline for entry is Oct. 9. By that date, we want to receive each company's submission.
After a processor gets nominated, we ask each nominee to develop a detailed report. Before you launch into it, check out the FAQs. We also recommend calling award coordinator Bill Bregar, a senior reporter at Plastics News. He can be reached at (330) 203-5991 or email at [email protected].
The 2016 Processor of the Year was Dymotek Corp., a custom injection molder based in Ellington, Conn.
PN Excellence Awards went to Plastek Industries Inc., a customer injection molder based in Erie, Pa., for industry and public service; Revere Plastics Systems LLC, a custom molder in Clyde, Ohio, for customer relations; and Engineered Profiles LLC, a custom extruder in Columbus, Ohio, for employee relations.
The Sustained Excellence Award went to Erie-based custom molder Plastikos Inc., which had won Processor of the Year in 2010.
The 2017 winners will be announced at the next Plastics News Executive Forum, scheduled for March 5-7, 2018, in Naples, Fla., at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club.
