The Food and Drug Administration has approved Sidel Group's Aseptic Combi Predis FMa blow/fill/seal filler, following tests at a North American dairy, the machinery manufacturer announced June 14.
The system is validated for low-acid manufacturing and commercial distribution in the U.S. market.
According to the company, the Sidel Aseptic blow/fill/seal system is the world's first aseptic PET filling equipment with dry preform sterilization to be approved by the FDA.
The process authority for the filler was Dover Brook Associates, which has 30 years of experience in sterile processes. Sidel officials said there are 100 Combi Predis production lines running worldwide.
The technology makes shelf-stable products like milk, soymilk, coconut water and teas, in PET bottles.
