Plastipak Packaging Inc. is again expanding capacity at the company's Pineville, La., manufacturing plant, a $15 million decision that will create 10 new jobs.
The Plymouth, Mich.-based company, will add up to seven production lines. This follows a $9 million expansion in 2015 that added three production lines at the same facility.
The average pay for the 10 new jobs will be $40,000, plus benefits. The facility currently has 263 other workers.
Plastipak makes rigid plastic packaging and has operations in the United States, South America, Europe and Africa. The company has more than 5,800 employees.
Louisiana Economic Development, a state agency, worked with Plastipak on the company's decision to expand in Pineview. The company will receive help through LED FastStart, a workforce development program, as well as the Quality Jobs and Industrial Tax Exemption programs, the state said.
"Plastipak has been a great partner in both economic and community development the past 14 years, and this expansion makes a stronger statement that the best is yet to come," Pineview Mayor Clarence Fields said in a statement.
Installation of new production lines in Plastipak's 862,000-square-foot facility will begin during the third quarter. Work should be finished by the end of the year. The company has been at that site since 2003.
