Schuco Polymer Technologies KG, a long-time customer of KraussMaffei Berstorff GmbH, has purchased a twin-strand coextrusion line for its plant in Weissenfels, Germany.
In the project, a KMD 114-32/P twin-screw extruder that has been running in the plant for more than 10 years has been integrated into a new coextrusion combination, which is also equipped with two KMD 63 K/P conical machines.
Shuco is using the line to make coextruded window profiles, with an output of about 1,700 pounds per hour. The main extruder prepares the material with a higher proportion of recycled fiber content for the inner layer. The two extruders, set up in a piggyback layout, deliver the outer layer in the twin-strand with an output of up to 440 pounds per strand.
KraussMaffei Berstorff is in Hanover, Germany. Its U.S. unit, KraussMaffei Corp. is in Florence, Ky.
