Formosa Plastics Corp. USA has resumed production of polyethylene and polypropylene resins in Point Comfort, Texas, but will continue to operate under force majeure sales control through the end of July.
Livingston, N.J.-based Formosa informed customers of the restart on July 17. The firm declared force majeure after a June 25 power outage at the Point Comfort site.
The outage occurred at the site's utilities co-generation unit. Initial investigation suggested that the cause of the outage was inclement weather.
The force majeure affected Formosa's Formolene-brand PE and PP resins. The firm's PVC resin production in Point Comfort was not affected by the outage.
