Lossburg, Germany — Arburg GmbH + Co. KG held a ceremony July 13 to lay the foundation stone for a new 147,465-square-foot training center at its headquarters complex in Lossburg.
Arburg is investing tens of millions of euros to build the four-story building.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony is a long-standing tradition that is intended to bring luck to the building and ensure its long-standing existence, Arburg officials said. A stainless-steel time capsule incorporated into the foundation contains historical materials, such as building plans and lists of people involved in the project. Also included are the latest editions of the company's customer magazine and in-house newsletter, the local newspaper, a two-euro coin dated 2017, aerial shots of the plant and photographs of the Arburg partners.
Michael Hehl, Arburg managing partner who is responsible for plant development, called the Training Center a "clear sign of our commitment to Lossburg as a production location and demonstrates our long-term, goal-oriented strategy."
Guests at the ceremony included District Administrator Klaus Michael Ruckert, representing the municipality of Lossburg.
The ground floor of the new building can hold about 15 Allrounder injection molding machines for training. Twelve rooms on the first floor are available for training customers. The next two floors will be open-plan offices for administrative staff.
The fourth floor will house Arburg's health management services.
