This week we published our ranking of 210 pipe, profile and tubing extruders. The companies in our ranking report total North American extrusion sales of $18.8 billion. That's up 2 percent over last year.
Pipe extrusion sales were up 3 percent, due in part to a 7 percent increase in PVC commodity resin pricing.
Results were mixed based on companies' key end markets. Construction showed moderate growth while agricultural dipped. Remodeling slumped, but commercial construction grew.
The biggest news to impact the ranking this year was Westlake Chemical Corp.'s acquisition of Axiall Corp. last August. The result: This year, for the first time, we combined the listings of North American Pipe Corp. and Royal Group Inc.
