Greif Inc. is spending millions of dollars to manufacture intermediate bulk containers in Baytown, Texas.
The facility, in an existing 100,000-square-foot building, adds to Greif's operations in the Houston area. Those existing facilities make what the company calls "a broad portfolio of steel, fibre and plastic drums."
"This is an investment in our customers which will strengthen and align our production by providing a solution in a key U.S. region for the specialty and bulk chemical and the petroleum and lube industries," said Ole Rosgaard, group president of rigid industrial packaging and services for the Americas, in a statement.
The new location, scheduled to be open during the second quarter of 2018, will create about 50 new jobs. Greif, based in Delaware, Ohio, described the project as a "multimillion-dollar investment."
