Ampacet Corp. opened a new masterbatch production facility in Dandenong, Australia, with a lab for product development and quality assurance for the custom colors and additives it produces for flexible packaging customers.
The Tarrytown, N.Y.-based business serves the food, shipping, industrial and retail industries with colors and additives used to add texture, metallic looks, paper effects and functionality. The company equipped the facility in the suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, with two twin-screw extruders, the latest control systems and semi-automatic bagging systems.
“We are delighted to be in Victoria, in Australia's manufacturing hub,” Ampacet President and CEO Yves Carette said in an Aug. 2 news release. “We have long had a significant presence in Australia and New Zealand. Our new Dandenong facility enables us to better serve our customers' needs.”
Ampacet now has 24 manufacturing sites in 17 countries offering a wide range of colors, special effects and additives for flexible and rigid extrusion processes and products.
Wade Noonan, Victoria's state minister for industry and employment, welcomed the new business.
“Ampacet Australia joins an ever-growing list of manufacturers choosing to base their operations in Dandenong – one of the nation's largest manufacturing precincts,” Noonan said in the release. “We are excited to watch this company grow and take its products to the world.”
Ampacet has more than 2,000 employees globally at technical and development centers in addition to manufacturing plants.
