Tekni-Plex Inc. is expanding its Tekni-Films operations in Italy through an acquisition.
The Wayne, Pa.-based company acquired the self-adhesive tape substrate operations of Alfatherm SpA of Venegono Superiore (VA), Italy.
“The acquisition will help support Tekni-Film's growing tape substrate business. We will be able to better serve converters across Europe who produce self-adhesive tapes for a wide variety of packaging operations,” said Joseph Horn, senior vice president and general manager of Tekni-Films, in a statement.
The acquired operations will be integrated into Tekni-Films Gallazzi's existing operations in Gallarate, Italy.
Tekni-Films supplies blister barrier films, flexible films, lidding foils and pouch materials to industries including pharmaceutical, medical, diagnostic health and personal care.
Marino Uberti, CEO of Alfatherm, said: “The divestiture of the adhesive tape substrate business is part of a broader strategic review. We will focus our growth on Alfatherm's core sectors such as surface decoration, capsules and sleeves and films for the graphic art segment.”
Founded in 1963, Alfatherm is a global PVC film manufacturer, focused on the production and sale of rigid, semi-rigid and flexible PVC films that are used in various applications including surface decoration, graphic art, capsules and sleeves, packaging and stationery.
