Orange, Texas-based flat die maker Cloeren Inc., which last year acquired a one-third stake in EMO GmbH, has purchased the rest of the flat die maker in Micheldorf, Austria.
Cloeren bought the remaining stake in EMO from toolmaker Haidlmair GmbH of Nussbach, Austria. Terms were not disclosed.
Both companies make flat dies for extrusion.
“The acquisition of EMO provides Cloeren with a strategic footprint on the European continent,” CEO Peter Cloeren said. “EMO provides Cloeren with a manufacturing, service and repair facility in Europe, and expands Cloeren's offerings through the integration of EMO's product lines into its portfolio.”
EMO will operate as Cloeren GmbH.
In 2013, the two companies announced an agreement to work together on technical issues and refurbish dies for each other in their domestic markets.
Cloeren, established in 1979, claims to be the world's largest manufacturer of extrusion dies and coextrusion feedblocks to the extrusion industry. Cleoren dies serve the cast film, extrusion coating and laminating, web coating, sheet, oriented films and woven and nonwoven extrusion processes. The family-owned company runs manufacturing operations in Orange and Marshall, Texas; Eau Claire, Wis., and now in Micheldorf.
Cloeren already was highly global. About 85 percent of the die-maker's production capacity is in Texas, with more than 70 percent of sales generated from outside North America, officials said.
EMO was founded in 1996.
