Agilyx Corp. has struck what the company calls a "off-take agreement" for styrene monomer the company will produce from recycled polystyrene.
The Tigard, Ore.-based company has an agreement with Americas Styrenics LLC for production from its waste-to-styrene pyrolysis plant.
"This technology has tremendous potential to divert polystyrene waste from our landfills and return a chemically equivalent polymer to the market," Agilyx CEO Joe Vaillancourt said in a statement. "Forging industry partnerships throughout this process is essential to achieve the worldwide impact that our technology promises."
Americas Styrenics, based in The Woodlands, Texas, is owned by Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. LP and Trinseo LLC. The company calls itself one of the largest integrated producers of polystyrene and styrene monomer in the Western Hemisphere.
