Swiss injection molding press maker Netstal will present Prelactia, a packaging solution for milk drinks, at the Drinktec show in Munich, Sept. 11-15.
Netstal will produce double-layer Prelactia barrier preforms for half-liter milk bottles using a PET-Line 2400-4000/1000, making packaging for milk products and drinks with a long shelf life.
The second injection unit is set up in an L-position to the main injection unit. During the first step of the overmolding process, a 1-millimeter gray layer with an integrated light barrier is injected into the 32-by-32 cavity mold. The blank is then coated with a 1.4-mm thin pure white outer skin.
Cycle time will be nine seconds.
In order to make pure white milk bottles, titanium dioxide is added to the polymer for the production of the preform.
Also at Drinktec, the injection press maker will mold 38-mm closures for milk bottles — completed closures with tamper-evident bands molded in a single process. Netstal will mold the closures on an Elion 2200-1,000 press. The 2.8-gram caps will be molded in a 32-cavity mold.
