A 45-year-old woman is dead as a result of an industrial accident at a plastics facility in Helena, Ala.
Eva Saenz, 45, of Alabaster, was working at ABC Polymer Industries LLC when the accident occurred on the evening of Aug. 16, according to Shelby County Coroner Lina Evans.
"It just appears that she was working next to the rollers and bent down to cut some of the plastic, I believe, with a box cutter and actually got pulled up into the rollers," Evans said.
Saenz was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force injuries, the coroner said.
Both the police and fire department from Helena responded after a 911 call at 6:41 p.m. from the company.
"Upon arrival, responders found a female employee that has been pulled into an industrial machine. Fire medics determined that the victim was deceased and the Shelby County Coroner's office was notified," the police department reported.
Police referred further questions to a fire department spokesman who was not available for comment Aug. 17.
