Lubrizol Corp.'s LifeSciences business is investing $10 million to expand a silicone contract manufacturing plant in Franklin, Wis., according to a news release.
The LifeSciences business of Wickliffe, Ohio-based Lubrizol serves the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. Lubrizol is a Berkshire Hathaway company.
The investment in Wisconsin will add 71,000 square feet to the existing 126,000-square-foot plant. The release noted that this will include space for "product development, cellular manufacturing, and high-efficiency production lines," in addition to "Class 7 and 8 clean room space for the production of implants and drug-eluting devices."
The Franklin plant had been part of Vesta Inc. Vesta had doubled the space there in 2010.
Lubrizol bought Vesta, a maker of catheters and other medical tubing, in 2014.
Vesta significantly expanded this site in 2010, the release stated.
