Orbis Corp., a maker of pallets and reusable packaging, has launched Proliant, a fire-retardant plastic material for use in select plastic pallets.
Orbis said Proliant is approved by Factory Mutual Research Corp. in meeting fire-retardant ratings equivalent to wood pallets. The material also is compliant with the Food and Drug Administration, giving the necessary compliance for food and beverage processors that require a fire-retardant pallet.
Orbis of Oconomowoc, Wis., first offered fire-retardant pallets in 2005, but now offers about 19 different designs of fire-retardant plastic pallets, all available in proliant.
Proliant also is halogen- and bromine-free, and is fully recyclable.
