Berry Global Group's package-producing facility in Victoria, Texas, won't reopen for a few weeks because of the on-going repair of structural and water damage caused by Hurricane Harvey on Aug. 25.
“We are working closely with our restoration teams and hope to resume normal operations towards the end of the month as soon as it is safe to do so,” says a company statement issued late Sept. 8.
Berry extrudes institutional can liners and retail trash bags in Victoria. To keep up with orders, the company is temporarily shifting production to a “network of sister facilities.”
The company also has a plant in Beaumont, Texas, that reprocesses resins, that was flooded from the storm. Berry says it has returned to “near normal” operations.
“The company is working diligently with our suppliers and customers to minimize the impact of these service interruptions,” the statement says.
Based in Evansville, Ind., Berry has 130 facilities around the world serving 13,000 customers ranging from large multi-national corporations to small local businesses. The publicly traded company posted sales of $6.5 billion in fiscal 2016.
