PVC profile extruder Veka Inc. will open its fourth North American manufacturing plant in North or South Carolina as well as a warehouse and logistics center in Mexico.
The Fombell, Pa.-based company makes window and door systems and fence, deck and rail profiles. Sales have been strong, creating a need for additional capacity, according to Veka North American President Joe Peilert.
The company said in a Sept. 11 news release that it is looking at three possible sites with more than 160,000 square feet of floor space to house up to 30 extrusion lines as well as offices, support services and a warehouse.
Veka surpassed its pre-recession sales and production levels back in 2015 and has been making strategic investments at its three plants in Fombell; Reno, Nev., and Terrell, Texas, to handle the growth.
"Based on our strong outlook long term, we have decided to add a fourth extrusion location scheduled to open in 2018 to support continued existing and new customer growth." Peilert said in the release.
He pointed to a service platform called Essentials as contributing to the positive outlook.
"Our design solutions, delivery performance and services have enabled our customers to gain market share," Peilert said.
Veka also is taking a big step toward capturing market share in Latin America during the fourth quarter by establishing a center in Mexico that improves the level of service and selection of products. The plan is to offer successful U.S. systems and a broad selection of European platforms.
Veka Inc. is the North American subsidiary of Veka AG, which has its headquarters in Sendenhorst, Germany.
Veka ranked No. 22 in Plastics News' survey of North American pipe, profile and tubing extruders, with estimated sales of $175 million.
