At the Fakuma 2017 in Germany, Wittmann Battenfeld GmbH will showcase its new high-speed, all-electric injection molding machine-the EcoPower Xpress 400/3300+.
Wittmann Battenfeld will be in Hall B1, Booth 1204.
The press is designed for molding packaging and other thin-wall applications.
The Kottingbrunn, Austria-based machinery maker will begin selling the press this fall, in the clamping sizes of 400 and 500 tons, and three sizes of injection units for injection speeds up to 600 millimeters per second, and injection pressures of up to 2,500 bar.
The all-electric Xpress replaces the TM Xpress, the high-speed hydraulic toggle-lever machine.
One special feature: High injection dynamism of up to 1,500 mms per second squared.
Injection is handled by a rack-and-pinion gear unit driven via a dual motor system. Because the driver uses minimal rotary mass, the press can reach extreme acceleration and speed alues.
The press also has KERS, Wittmann Battenfeld's patented kinetic energy recovery system, which transforms braking energy into electrical energy, for use in the machine.
At Fakuma, the EcoPower express will mold high-density polyethylene closing caps on a 96-cavity Plastisud mold on a 2.7-second cycle.
