Plustech Inc., the North American representative of Sodick injection molding machines, is releasing a line of two-shot presses, to the line of Sodick GL series horizontal machines.
Sodick did offer two-shot machines previously, as a special configuration, but now the technology is a standard, “off the shelf” part of the machine lineup.
The new GL series two-shot machines will be available in clamping forces of 30, 60, 100, 150 and 200 tons. The second injection unit provides a shot size ranging from 2-27 cubic centimeters, and will be available for a range of materials, including liquid silicone rubber.
The second injection unit can be mounted vertically or on the side. Sodick's V-Line two-stage plunger process will give added value for two-shot molding operations. Currently, in Asia, Sodick two-shot presses serve markets such as connector seals, small components for cell phones and medical device molding.
Company officials said the addition of a second injection unit is ideal for micromolding applications requiring tight tolerances.
