Nordson Corp. will unveil a new Xaloy high glass filled polymer system at the Fakuma show, designed for compounds with high levels of glass-fiber reinforcement.
The system provides wear resistance, high throughput and gentle mixing, running a wide range of resins with filler content from 10-60 percent. Applications include automotive, marine, electronic and other parts requiring very high levels of strength and stiffness.
At Fakuma, Nordson will display at Stand A6-601.
The Xaloy glass-filled system includes a Pulsar I mixing screw, X-8000 screw encapsulation, X-800 barrel inlay and an application-specific valve.
In other news, Nordson retrofitted its BKG POLY screen changer for use on a PET polymerization line for a Turkish company, Köksan PET Packaging Industry Co., which makes food and beverage containers.
The special retrofit prolonged the working life of the melt filters on the screen changer, and improved the quality of the preforms and bottles that are produced in later operations, according to Nordson
Koksan had been using a standard version of the BKG POLY screen changer, which has a large filtration area designed for high-volume polymerization. It has eight screen cavities, each of which holds a flat screen supported by a breaker plate.
In the retrofit, Nordson replaced the screens and breaker plates with new-design breaker plates, each bearing multiple filter candles. That increased the filtration area by a double-digit factor and gave better fineness of filtration, compared to the flat screens.
