Engel Holding GmbH will roll out a new higher-speed version of its viper robot at Fakuma 2017. The new viper 20 speed robot offers part removal times of well under one second — running in injection molding cycles of around four seconds.
Engel will be at Hall A5, Stand 5204.
Engel is marketing the robot to medical and packaging applications. Typical parts include food containers or sample cups for medical analyses, where top-entry robots offer good flexibility.
“The enhanced servo-electric drive technology and the reduced weight of the robot's axes are responsible for the new performance class,” said Walter Aumayr, the machinery maker's head of the automation and peripherals division.
The viper robots are fully integrated into the CC300 control unit of the Engel injection press.
In other news, Engel has opened a MuCell competence center in Stuttgart, Germany, with a manufacturing cell for customer trials, development work, application-specific consulting, training and small-lot production.
Even before opening the MuCell center, Engel had appointed Lukas Neunzig as the MuCell technology expert for Stuttgart, the company's fourth sales and service facility in Germany. He has completed several MuCell projects from customers from around the world at Engel's headquarters in Schwertberg, Austria, and at the large-tonnage machinery plant in St. Valentin, Austria.
MuCell is the foaming technology brand of Trexel Inc. based in Wilmington, Mass.
