This week we publish our North American mold makers ranking. Let's take a peek behind the numbers.
132 firms are ranked with $2.4 billion in sales, up 5 percent over last year. 39 percent reported growth, with a median of 12 percent. (That means half were below and half were above the 12 percent increase).
These figures support a slowing down trend in mold, tooling and die sales.
Another interesting view is the average sales per company over time. The chart below represents the fiscal years that we've published since growing our list beyond the top 20 firms.
The number of employees reported is up 6 percent, however, we have added five firms. So let's also compare the average number of employees per company. That's 73, up 2.8 percent over last year's ranking.

Eagle Mold Technologies Inc. of Poway, Calif.
Kenmold North America LLC of Bowling Green, Ky.
Molding Concepts Inc. of Sterling Heights, Mich.
Precision Tool & Mold Inc. of Clearwater, Fla.
These firms have moved up the most positions in the ranking:
MMI Engineered Solutions Inc. of Saline, Mich. moved up 28 spaces to rank at No. 47.
Polycel Structural Foam Inc. of Somerville, N.J. moved up 23 spaces to rank at No. 97.
Crescent Industries Inc. of New Freedom, Pa. moved up 14 spaces to rank at No. 104.
Canon Virginia Inc. of Newport News, Va. moved up 9 spaces to rank at No. 60.
Built Rite Tool & Die Inc. of Lancaster, Mass. moved up 9 spaces to rank at No. 93.
